Using virtual and physical Manipulatives for Geometry

This task project was created for my Geometry for Teachers class. As an almost teacher, I don’t presume what a student knows. This sometimes is to my detriment because I have a tendancy to start from the basics and work my way out.

Introduction to Algebra

This was my first teaching experience. The lesson was to be a fun introduction to algebra by showing a practical application; how to create boxes of different sizes using algebra. I walked away from the lesson thinking “Nailed it” reflecting back, this was when I recognized refreshing student memory doesn’t equate to providing a full foundational lesson

Mrs. Pac Man

A few days before this teaching experience, my professors showed us a new teaching technique: 3 act math. I was instantly in love. The lesson learned from this experience is that I need to become more familiar with a teaching style before implementation. I still love 3 act Math though. This particular lesson was adapted from Robert Kaplinsky.
